Apple's rumored $2,000+ AR headset will go into mass production in the second quarter of 2022.

AR Headset

According to a translated story from the Taiwanese version of DigiTimes, Apple's augmented reality headgear would commence mass production in the second quarter of next year, with a debut planned between the third and fourth quarters of 2022.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted in June that Apple's augmented reality headgear would be released between April and June of next year. According to today's news, Apple's augmented reality headgear has completed the second phase of prototype testing, bringing it closer to mass production.

The first version of Apple's augmented reality headgear could be big, comparable to the Oculus Rift, but a sleeker pair of "Apple Glasses" could arrive a few years later. Apple has been building up its augmented reality platform in recent years, releasing various AR-centric features on iOS and iPadOS, presumably paving the way for the " Apple Glasses ".

Apple's augmented reality headgear isn't likely to be cheap, at least at first. According to one estimate, it will have at least 15 camera modules, eye-tracking, and potentially iris recognition, and will cost between $2,000 and $3,000.
